I'm still paying for this!!!

This is, without question, the last Mitsubishi
I will ever own. Have you had similar problems
with Mitsubishi paint? Email me at:

As you can see, the corrosion problem isn't limited to the roof and trunk. Areas exposed to direct sunlight apparently fare worse. As time wears on, the problem worsens. Yet, Mitsubishi in a letter to me said that it would not cover a repainting because the vehicle has passed its three-year/36,000-mile warranty period. Which presents an interesting catch 22: if it takes four years for the problem to manifest itself, how can Mitsubishi ever be responsible for repainting these defective vehicles under a 3-year warranty.
How convenient!

The Pride of the Mitsubishi Fleet

This is a front/top view of my black 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. Take note of the complete loss of paint on the roof, the leper-like splotches of corrosion on the hood, and the general lack of glossiness to the entire vehicle. This is the result of a defect in a paint coat that Mitsubishi, or the dealer, Sunrise Toyota, never told me about.

Worse, Mitsubishi has refused to repaint even the portions of the car that were ravaged by this self-consuming paint. The value of the car has sunk below zero. Several letters to the company have netted repeated refusals. I recently filed a complaint with the New York Attorney General. Stay tuned...
